The school adaption. How is the school version of Les Mis. We were supposed to do it for a spring show in Drama but the choir teacher canceled it

It's very well. It didn't seem to mind being cancelled and has booked itself a trip round the world. She thanks you for asking.

I didn't like it at all. Things are cut out in the most ridiculous places (for instance, the song "Stars" starts right at the word "stars"). It's really choppy, most schools can't pull it off, and anyone in the audience with no previous knowledge of the story is pretty much screwed.

I'll agree.
"she's the one sold her jewls..." I wanted to die watching it. I think the whole "Lovely Ladies" scene is toned down quite a bit....agh. The last school production I watched was.....eh, well my friends did it but still. They sung it well, to say the least, but some parts were just...gack.
Anyways...yeah. that really helped.
Agreed that it's pretty choppy in some places...

My school did Les Mis SE years ago. I'm pretty sure we did the bit where Fantine sells her hair, but not where she sells her necklace. Perhaps the UK version of the SE is slightly different?

Hehe, this seems to be true. I talked to my friend's dad who had recently seen a SE production, and asked how the actress who played Fantine had been. The conversation went like this:
"Who's Fantine?"
"You know, she's the woman who dies in the first act, Cosette's mom..."
"Oh! You mean Jean Valjean's mistress!"
I believe my response went along the lines of "What Les Mis have you been watching?!?!"
