Videos of my school's Les Mis

Here's some videos of Les Miserables at my school. Comments are greatly appreciated! Smile

Valjean was good, but i didn't really like Javert. He didn't seem into it at all. Pretty good for a high school show. Obviously not professional, but heck, I know how hard just doing a play for a high school is.

(oh yes, shameless advertising http://www.youtube.com/user/starmelace)

Javert wasn't too great in this scene. He is a fantastic actor, but I don't think Javert is really the part for him. I wish I had Javert's suicide. His acting in that is phenomenal. Thanks for the comment. Smile

You're welcome. I love that scene so much I hardly care who plays the role. (hardly) So did you try out for the show?
Herm1994

I wasn't able to audition. My sister was in it though.
starmelace

Why not? That's cool for your sister, what part did she have?

She was Cart Onlooker #2. Cool
starmelace

Lol awesome. Go chorus!!!
Herm1994

No small parts, just small actors. Wink

By the way, the poster of the topic "Me as Thenardier" is also from my school's production.
starmelace

Ah, that's cool Smile I envy you guys beyond all belief. My thespian director is a lazy bum and the drama director is a sexist who only wants to do small, obscure plays.

What kind of stuff do you do?
starmelace

The thespian troupe did Sylvia and The Women of Lockerbie.

Drama club: The Foreigner. And then (for some stupid reason) nothing for the spring.
Herm1994

Sorry, I haven't heard of them before.

This year, the fall play was Much Ado About Nothing. I wasn't in that either, because I was doing marching band.

Here's a video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=KvBaNY3amaI

Most of the people in this show were also in Les Mis. Benedick (guy with the beard) was Javert, Claudio (short black hair) was Thenardier, the random jumping guy at 3:36 was Marius, and the fighting guy at 4:47 was Valjean.

*turns green with envy* where do you live, I want to go to your school!
The Pirate King

The chorus doesn't seem too into it.

I can't wait until I can get some of my schools' production on here.

What do you mean by that?
The Pirate King

I'm not getting much energy or intensity from anyone in the cast.

Zzzz.
Trevor reincarnate

I'm gonna do the same thing to you that I did to your Thenardier friend.

THIS is how Les Mis is done.

And our Valjean singing Bring Him Home at a concert.

starmelace

Oh, be nice. Besides, it's not her fault if some of the actors weren't good.

No one? That's hard to believe.

Trevor, I know your production was really good and everything, but if you want to advertise it, why not just make your own thread? This person obviously wants constructive feedback, and saying stuff like that and posting your own vids isn't exactly doing that. Show a bit of consideration for other people, please.

I liked your Valjean, Herm. Haven't got round to watching any of the others yet, will do later.

Thanks for the comment. I'm glad someone else sees what a jerk Trevor is being. When you get something wrong on a test at school, the teacher doesn't rush in, say "This is how it's done," and do the problem without helping. They show you what could have been done better. All I want is some constructive and respectful feedback.

I'm glad you liked Valjean. I wish I had filmed with a better camera, so you could see the facial expressions. Smile
Trevor reincarnate

Okay. Here's my advice.

Have energy and passion for the show.
Get a new Valjean who can hit the notes without resorting to a hollow sounding falsetto.
Get a new ensemble who cares.
Get a Thenardier who can sing, act, and be funny but dark and evil at the same time.

And I know I'm rude. But that's because I tell the truth in a very very blunt and self righteous way. Do I care? ...... No.
starmelace

Well, it's a pity you don't care. Most people don't take advice from self-righteous, blunt people. You're advice is good, but try and have some heart.

*Your* advice. Thank you for the correction

Trevor, there's being blunt and self-righteous, and then there's being a snotty bitch. And then there's going above and beyond the call of snotty bitchiness by jumping up and down waving your arms and shouting "LOOK AT MEEEEEE! Look how much better I am!" whenever someone asks for critique.

- A self-professed snotty bitch
Trevor reincarnate

I don't do it to everyone and you know it. I didn't do it to the Asian dude who may or may not have lip synced Empty Chairs. I didn't do it to all the million other people who have posted and asked for critique. Only this performance. Because it's up there in the worst Les Mis youtubes I've ever seen. And what is the difference of posting videos from another good Les Mis and my good Les Mis to reference to? Just because I happened to be in the Les Mis I like to show people, it makes it bad?

I would have shown those videos even if I hadn't been in it. In fact, the One Day More montage wasn't even me. Thenardier was double cast. The video footage is me, but the audio isn't even me.

So it's not like I'm promoting myself. I'm promoting a good show I happened to be part of.

Plus... these people annoy me a lot.

So don't say I do it to everyone. Because I don't.

I think that's about enough. This thread is locked.
