What else do you do?

I have been in this forum for a while now, when suddenly I came to think of something..

All you "veterans" (and other fans): who spend a lot of time here; do you have ordinary work, or do you all go to school? If you work, is your jobs related to the musical theatre world, since this seemes to be your great passion? Or is Les Mis and other musicals just a big hobby of yours? If you are still students, are you considering a career or education in the musical world?

many questions, but I'm full of them.. hope someone will answere.. Wink

I'm a bored college student.

Hello Smile

You should come join us in the social forum where we discuss these things all the time! Many of us work in some edge of the business (for instance, I'm a high school teacher who directs the plays and musicals at her school). Some are professional, and many are students. There's a whole bunch of school information in the Auditions forum, and a whole world out there on the other side of The Barricade!!
flying_pigs

Also a bored college student who was going to study stage management at uni but thinks Politics is probably a better choice! Oh, and I work in a Supermarket part time haha!

So, I guess musicals are just a passion!
katethegreat

I'm a singing teacher...who wishes she'd studied something like politics d'oh!
curlyhairedsoprano91

I'm a high-school theatre geek who basically does homework and sings all day.

Jesus Christ, I'm a loser.

Oh yes, I should have thought of posting it in another forum, maybe... But I am always in this forum Razz

Well, I am just about to choose myself, and I definitively want to work with music.. maybe as a stage manager or producer, that would be fun Smile dont know if I have the guts to be a producer though..

I'm a second semester senior (aka I do nothing) who does theatre with the rest of her time and relates everything she learns in classes to Les Mis.

In European history, every time the teacher mentioned a barricade, the entire class would turn around and laugh at me. And apparently, my old Spanish teacher mentions Les Mis every day and goes, "Ah I wish Abby were here! She'd know what I'm talking about."

So. Yeah. What I do in my spare time is kind of... Les Mis. Razz

Ha, I think I got you all topped as the biggest geek here.

I'm majoring in French in college (maybe minoring in theater) and going to live in France and become a Gendarme. (for you all who may not know, that is the French Police and they work with the French Army) I was going to go all out and make Inspecteur like Javert but things are not like that these days. But basically I will be working on getting the same position as Javert had.

That's my future job and all that.

Obsessed much? lol

Right now I'm taking 2 theater classes, involved in 6 different productions, assistant directing at my old high school. In a version of the Scarlet Pimpernel as Chauvelin's guard. (Chauvelin is almost like Javert) And, I'm in another show. I forget. I'm in so many now. haha!
lesmisloony

College student. Spend all my free time obsessively checking this forum for updates. And writing fanfic. And making LJ icons. And searching "Les Miserables" on ebay and ebay.fr...

Majoring in French. Probably minoring in creative writing.

Beginning an obsessive bootleg collection.
The Very Angry Woman

I'm a jaded and bitter laid-off graphic designer biding her time in a "between jobs" job.

you're a bit like me, then.. in october I was the stage-manager's assistant in our little district-opera in my town . We're a lot of local people helping the production, though we have professional solists and orchestra Wink

Part-time desk job at a church office. Am busy looking for a second job to fund my passion for shows.

The only musical related "work" I do is Hugh Panaro's web site...but that doesn't count as a job.
Mistress

I'm just a musical obsessed highschooler doing a victory lap (meaning I technically finished highschool, but chose to come back for an extra year)

My only theatre connection is my obsession and the fact that I go to a ton of shows (my mom knows just what to get me for birthdays and Christmas Mr. Green There's also the annual family outing to the Stratford Festival every summer/fall, and school trips the festival, so I get to see a lot of theatre productions, and not just musicals either. I like a good Shakespeare performance too)
Colle

I work at a children's museum, and I am a graduate student in library science. My undergraduate degree is in psychology, Fantine.
