Who to audition for?I'm auditioning for Les Mis SE soon but i'm not sure whether to go for Fantine or Cosette. I'm a Mezzo Soprano but can also sing Soprano confidently. Any suggestions?

Actually, Eponine is nearer soprano range than Fantine cuz of all her high e's and d's. Fantine's highest note is an Eb. How old are you compared to everyone else who's auditioning? If you're in the middle, go for all 3. If your towards the older side of the auditionees, go for fantine.
What about madam t? If you can do phsical comedy, that's a fab role!
Can you go for more than one? If you can, I know I would.
Do you have to audition for the Factory Girl? if you'd like to be part of the chorus and can play the catty and selfish type, that'd be fun!
Whoever you go for, I'm sure you'll do really well... BREAK A LEG!

Well its with a youth theatre company so i think the age ranges from 12 to 16, I'm 15. I wouldn't go for Mme. Thenadier because I know a girl who's going for it and a much stronger actor and singer than me.

I say go for both and see what happens. That way you can't loose. But keep either Fantine or Eponine in mind so that the director can see you as both, but will pick up on your passion for one role in particular.

You could really do both, and honestly, go for both.
But I'd recommend trying out for Fantine. The competition won't be as cut-throat as it is for Cosette or Eponine.

EVERYONE goes for Eponine in auditions though. In which case, if there's gonna be a massive cat fight over the part, where something and do something that's gonna make you memorable! This'll make you stand out from everyone else and give you a better chance.

Cosette is a lame role. The LAST role I would ever want to play in the show.
If I were a girl, I would kill to play Fantine. She has meat to her. Cosette is fluff.

I think Fantine is fabulous. Cosette's part is okay, but not as emotional as Fantine's.
Fantine will make people cry. Cosette won't.
Eponine...I dunno, but I just don't dig her stuff as much. On My Own...so overdone, it just doesn't have much meaning left for me. I love A Little Fall of Rain, though.
Now, Madame Thenardier is fantastic. I would KILL to play her. You don't even have to be that good of a singer to play Thenardier, infact, I think it almost helps if you aren't.

I saw LM last night and Fantine was the only character that stuck out to me. It was so emotional - i'd say go for fantine!

Fantine was my first thought anyway. I've just found out that the auditions not until september now though so i'll let you guys know how i did closer to the time.
