Electricity24601 |
You sing beautifully Fantine! Your voice has such a nice, clear, sparkly tone.
The producers didn't know what they were doing when they didn't cast you in the Dutch Les Mis |
||||||
EponineMNFF |
That was beautiful! You have such a pretty voice! |
||||||
Quique |
Que hermoso. | ||||||
Fantine |

It's okay to give me constructive critisism you know
Yeah well... Tell them that! |

I was hoping you wouldn't take it that way. I was helping you put a voice to my face like you said. Sorry. I thought that was the intent.
|
||||||
Set_Buildin_Dad |
Very nice job Fantine. I'll listen to you anytime.
Fantine |
Aw thanks
I know Trevor, but you already posted some of your stuff earlier on (which I enjoyed thoroughly). |

My bad. | ||||||

Hey Fantine!
Beautiful voice! If you follow my website link, you can hear my version of Bring him home, we should do a duet xx |
||||||
Fantine |
I have a new song! ^^
It's the Dutch version of 'Part of your world' (I know, OVERDONE! But in Dutch it's not so bad). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUEQoNeiQJg |
||||||
bigR |
So beautiful! You have such a sweet and expresive voice...
DontDoSadnessxx |
Fantine, you have a GORGEOUS voice.
Im so envious |
||||||
mastachen |
I loved it. I think you handled the ending better than Sierra Boggess. Awesome
Fantine |
Whoa; that's a huge compliment! Thanks I'm not much of a belter though! |
||||||
Moci |
That was gorgeous. I've loved your voice ever since I first heard your singing and it's even better now than it was then. |
||||||
lesmisloony |
Fantine! You have such a dreamy voice! It's beautiful! I played the song over and over for about a half-hour as I browsed the interbunny. It's so lovely!
Fantine |
Aw thanks you guys!
Now I still have to tackle a song in English. |

Can you sing just for us?
We ask you to sing a song, and you do it. Don't try mega hard, or something, just like between friends. I would like you to sing "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables". I just love that song!! |
||||||
Fantine |
Who, me? |
||||||
LesMisForever |
Yes! |
||||||
Fantine |
Doesn't that seem a bit tacky, a woman singing a male song? |
||||||
lesmisloony |
Well, Michael Ball once sang IDAD...
mastachen |
If you look hard enough (but I'm not suggesting you do...) you'll find a video on youtube of a certain guy singing "On My Own"......
Moci |
Michael Ball thinks that he can get away with singing anything, but he can't. His IDAD is overwrought and cheesy, with my favourite moment being when the electric guitars kick in on "And still I dream she'll come to me". Of course its nothing compared to his rendition of 'Don't Rain on My Parade' (complete with the Barbra Streisand style inflections) which had me in stitches from laughing. |
||||||
curlyhairedsoprano91 |
Here's the thing ... anyone who knows me knows that I adore Michael Ball to little bits and pieces. However, Moci is totally right in saying that he thinks he can get away with singing anything. I don't have any of his CDs because a lot of the stuff he tries to sing is kind of embarrassing. His voice = fabulous. He just does too much. |
||||||
lesmisloony |
Agreed. I laugh at Michael a lot, which kind of hurts my soul because I adore him, but he's... well, it's like this:
Actually, I think the retardedest Michael Ball song is his rendition of "Seasons of Love," though his "Nothing's Gonna Harm You" is cringe-worthy as well... |
||||||
curlyhairedsoprano91 |
I'm kind of in stitches right now. I don't even know why. |
||||||
lesmisloony |
Hahaha, you have to hear it. It's... a lol-ercoaster.
Moci |
His rendition of 'I'll Be There For You' from 'Friends' is a bit special as well, to be honest. |
||||||
Electricity24601 |
Oh dear... Imagine all the more cross-gender songs he's going to do now that he's played Edna! |
||||||
Fantine |
He's sung that song?! |
||||||
Moci |
Oh yes. Although, I think that I have just found the king of 'Michael Ball singing songs he shouldn't' clips. Skip to 06:59 and prepare to die of laughter. |
||||||
lesmisloony |
BWAHAHAHAHA! WTF??
Um... what was Michael doing there? |
||||||
EponineMNFF |
I don't know whether to laugh or bleach my eyes out. |
||||||
Timmy_Wishes he was Quast |
i did have stomach cramp...but that cleared the blockage!
curlyhairedsoprano91 |
Jesus Christ. I want to cry now. I'm not even joking. But I'm laughing waaaay too hard to cry.
"They try to make me go to rehab, I say nooo no no ..." Damn, Michael, just go already. Better yet, I'll go. |
||||||
Moci |
What I want to know is why does he do this to himself?
Or more importantly, why does he do this to us? Honestly though, I've watched that clip about 10 times since I posted it and it's not getting old yet. I can't decide what my 'favourite' part is though- the 'drunk uncle dancing at a wedding' style dancing at the start, the manic look in his eyes as he starts to sing, or just the general fact that he's singing an Amy Winehouse song. |
||||||
lesmisloony |
I want to watch the whole video. I mean, the whole rehab song. Because I feel I could use the laughs.
curlyhairedsoprano91 |
I will never understand this aspect of Michael. It's like he doesn't have the mind-mouth buffer when it comes to singing.
lesmisloony |
Methinks the poor baby is a wee bit too proud of his voice.
I mean, it's a lovely voice, but still. |
||||||
curlyhairedsoprano91 |
If I had a voice like Michael's, I would be deathly proud of it, too. But I wouldn't whore it out.
Fantine |
Leg cramps!
Anyway... Poor Michael. |
||||||
Cassie |
Michael Ball's voice is stunning and better than ever at the moment.
Songs like 'Rehab' or 'I'll be there for you' (sung over ten years ago now)are there for fun at the end of a gig. I saw several shows on the '07 tour when 'Rehab' was sung and was received really well by the audiences. It was one of the highlights of the show complete with the story of how he came to be singing it. I'm really glad it was included on the dvd. I think Michael Ball is proud of his voice and so he should be, I could train for a thousand years and not have an ounce of his natural ability. By performing this type of material it shows he doesn't take himself too seriously and is up for some fun too. The version of 'Crazy' Michael did on the same tour was brilliant you would hardly have recognised it until the chorus kicked in. Of course Rossy chose to show something he could take the pee out on the show , it's power for the cause for him. Marius was a long time ago and Michael never has been a performer who sings just material from musical theatre. Of course you get MT songs at a gig I heard him sing 'Empty chairs' last weekend and it was still as emotional and powerful and completely in character as it ever was. Remember he also has to cater for the people who come to see him because of the tv appearences and buying the albums not because of his work in the theatre. This means in one concert you get a diversity within the material performed which embraces different genres and era's of the business. IMHO he's a national treasure and long may he continue to do what he does. |

It always suprises me that people get so uptight about songs being sung by the opposite gender to who usually sing it. Great songs have a concept that applies to both genders and usually certainly in the songs Michael Ball decides to sing, need very little lyric change.
Fantine |
Well yes, if those songs are sung well.
Cassie |
which is surely a matter of individual preference as much as anything else.
Fantine |
Exactly. So you were saying?
musical4eva |
How about a thread where everyone post's links of them singing and gets constructive criticism in return, On how to improve and stuff? Could be interesting and helpful I imagine.
thegirlfromack |
Really nice instrument Fantine!
Fantine |
Thank you
musical4eva, if you haven't read the thread, please don't say anything. |
||||||
musical4eva |
I have read the thread and listened to the video. I thought it was really good. I just thought this would be a good place to bring up the idea. Sorry if I sorta gatecrashed your thread.
Fantine |
Well it's not really my thread but rather Michael Ball's
SomeoneLikeYou |
Bwahahahahaha.
Could someone repost the link where MB is singing Rehab? It's not working for me and I want to laugh too. Or bleach out my eyes, to quote EponineMNFF. |
||||||
Moci |
It's still working fine for me. Are you seeing the interview with Jamie Foxx and Jonathan Ross? Because it's part of that clip, you've got to skip to 06:59. |
||||||
SomeoneLikeYou |
OK, it works now.
Well... I was drinking tea while watching that, and I spit it out all over the keyboard and started choking on what was left in my mouth from the laughter. HOLY CRAP. And LOL Jonathan Ross..."Stop it, stop it, stop it!" And that guy was Marius in the Dream Cast?!?!? ... |
||||||
EponineBarker |
OMG, just watched the clip, and that was just plain hilarious to me. Slightly disturbing, but funny nevertheless.
