Since there are ten billion of these goddamn threads floating around, I'm hereby hijacking the subject of this thread and changing it to "If there were to be a dream cast recording right this very instant, who do you think should realistically be on it?" That means fairly well-known and well-liked performers in the show from the past ten years, no repeats from the TAC, nobody who's never performed in English, nobody who hasn't sung a note of the show since 1988. The point of the exercise is not "who's your favorite performer," but "who deserves to be on a present-day dream cast."

The chapter of the book that contains Enjolras and Grantaire's death scenes is titled "Oreste � jeun et Pylade ivre," which is a slight pun that could either be translated as "Orestes Fasting and Pylades Drunk" or "Orestes Sober and Pylades Drunk."
Some of the translations that aren't based on Charles Wilbour's give up on the pun and merely title that chapter "Orestes and Pylades," which is why you might not have seen it.

I saw Norman Large in a regional production of Urinetown recently. He was Caldwell B. Cladwell. He was very good. He deserves to still be doing Broadway stuff.
