Mistress |
I think I'll actually set up a separate post for that, and I think I'll stick in Aron lazr, just for Orestes |
||||
curlyhairedsoprano91 |
Sweet.
Be sure to spell his name right. (Maguire, not McGuire. ... I'm assuming the Aron Lazr was ironic. ) |
||||
lesmisloony |
YOW. Max von Essen was pretty hot, too. Aaron Lazar... eh, he was okay. And, though he may not have been the hottest Enj ever, I'm eternally devoted to Christopher Mark Peterson. Due to... him giving me a hug while he was wearing The Vest. And staying with me at the stage door and helping me chase down all the actors back in 2003. I love him. |
||||
Mistress |
Oops, my bad ...that's how the dude who posted the pick spelt Maguire's name. (And the Lazr was just a typo)
curlyhairedsoprano91 |
I'm gonna say this for, like, the fifteenth time today: I know, right? |
||||
lesmisloony |
How seldom it is that one meets a fellow spirit. With fellow tastes in men, at least. |
||||
curlyhairedsoprano91 |
I wouldn't think that finding Mike Maguire attractive would be all that uncommon ... because he's gorgeous ... but maybe that's just me? And you.

Woot! for Sweeney Todd! Pretty Men. Pretty Men sitting in the window or standing on the stair... |
||||
curlyhairedsoprano91 |
Ahahahaha I wasn't even thinking of that song when I saw the post ... I'm not much of a Sweeney Todd-er (never seen the movie or the musical, and I've only heard that song once) ... but now it's making me laugh.
lesmisloony |
OHMAN, soprano, I demand you march right over to youtube and watch the concert version with Angela Lansbury. I'm like, 80% sure the whole thing is there.
curlyhairedsoprano91 |
*cowers in fear of the Sweeneyites*
Mrrrr. Okay. |
||||
Mistress |
Yes, it is...I totally :3 Sweeney Todd and the Lansbury/Hearn film...oh man, no matter how much I like evil Lovetts, Angela Lansbury will always be in my heart...her and her devil horn buns!
Fantine |
Hey I'm not a dude! I'll correct it. |
||||
The Very Angry Woman |
You do realize it's possible to Google for correctness, right? |
||||
Mistress |
Sorry, I just always tend to interchange dude and person...my bad, and yeah, I proabably should have googled the name, my fault... |
||||
Quique |
I liked TVAW's ImageShack idea, so I copied her.
3rd national tour, mid-90's: Thenardiers are Gina Ferrall and J.P. Dougherty. |
||||
The Very Angry Woman |
I saw that cast and have always felt sorry for Brian Noonan for having such a truly awful production photo.
Quique |
I saw him too, and agree that that's a really bad shot of him. His hair was nowhere as horrible as that, and he has a really weird expression.
Quique |
3rd national tour, 1990:
I have no idea why it says "2nd National Tour." I'm 100% sure this was the 3rd NT. But then again, they frequently were known to make errors identifying the tours on the souvenir brochures back then. |
||||
The Very Angry Woman |
I saw him shortly after he joined the tour and shortly before he left, and I distinctly remember two very different wigs. Pictured was the better one, I believe. Side note: I also saw him in Night of the Hunter and Beauty & the Beast and I've concluded that he could be an incredible Javert. |

Quique, I can't thank you ENOUGH for posting these!
Where do you find them all? |
||||
Quique |
You're very welcomed. =) I'm glad you're enjoying them.
I scanned most of them myself from my own souvenir brochure collection. I actually don't have many--about 30. Mostly from the American productions. |
||||
Orestes Fasting |
That's rather a lot for the rest of us, you know. I only have five. |
||||
lesmisloony |
I have... three, I think.
*le sigh* |
||||
Fantine |
Uhm... Me too.
(Soon to be four though when I go see the Dutch production That one will be rare then ) |
||||
Quique |
Really? I thought some of you would be swimming in them. Though I bet TVAW probably has a zillion in her collection, hehehe.
It's nice to know these photos are new to you guys. It's always exciting to see pics you've never seen before, and I'm glad you're enjoying them. I'll post some 1999 London ones a bit later. |
||||
Quique |
Sorry for the delay!
Actually, this brochure is dated 1997: The Bishop pic had to be cut off cause the brochure is too big for my scanner. I'll scan that one pic later. Who knew you could accentuate your boobs with dirt? XD Stig Rossen is Valjean. Don't know the rest. |
||||
The Very Angry Woman |
I have that one.
Sylvie Paladino was Fantine and Ethan Freeman was Javert. I think there's a picture of JOJ as the alternate Valjean in there, too. |
||||
Fantine |
That's one of my favorite Fantine pics. I think she's beautiful. (A bit heavy on the make-up, but I don't mind that in this pic).
Quique |
^ Yep. Here he is...
|
||||
Quique |
A slightly better scan of the 1994 3rd national tour brochure:
I didn't use any filters this time, but it sorta looks the same. :S |
||||
Quique |
Re-scanned pic of Alice Ripley with additional photos...
Eponine in the ODM pic is Angela Pupello, Gavroche is Joey Morano, and Enjolras is Gary Mauer. Gina Ferrall is quite possibly my fave Mme. T ever, btw. I'll scan and post more tomorrow. =) |
||||
The Very Angry Woman |
Trivia: Joey Morano was later in the same graduating class as Jill Paice and Kevin David Thomas at Baldwin-Wallace College.

Quique |
^ Omg, that's so cool.
I must have seen him at least 3 times. He was great. |
||||
Fantine |
I really liked Angela Pupello in the audio clip that was once on lesmis.com.
Quique |
^ I saw her in 1992, and she was wonderful. Very gutsy and "dirty." I'll never forget her performance.
Fantine |
Yeah I could tell that from the audio Shame that there isn't much of her out there.
Quique |
I've posted these before...
Review of 1st national tour L.A. engagement, 1991: 3rd national tour 1994 Pasadena, CA engagement review: Original Broadway production NY Times review: This one's very hard to read, so I apologize for the bad quality--American premiere review, Washington: |

My 10th anniversary London concert souvenir brochure cover:
No. I was not there in person. But it was sent to me by one of my British pen-pals who attended the concert at the time. |
||||
Timmy_Wishes he was Quast |
AND just to the far left of the image...poking through the smoke...Mr P Quast. The image is of the Manchester Cast i believe.
lesmisloony |
Ahaha.... that Grantaire picture can only be described as amazing...
Catherine |
I hope these pics belong here, but this is from my trip today to see it in London.
Me just before going A picture in the window. The giant logo A portrait inside the theatre My souvenir brochure, which had the pretty pictures, but sadly, no cast list Me with said brochure ... erm, some writing on the loo door. I thought it was quite funny because there was no other writing in the whole cubicle, that was just... there The beautiful Queen's theatre More of it The view of the stage from my seat (BB!!) And some of the Pit (before the performance, obviously) The cellist! I had an amazing day. =] |
||||
Fantine |
I would KILL to get that drawing.
Catherine |
I knowww, it was fab. I was like, I have to get a picture of this!
Moci |
Are the pretty pictures of the current cast? 'Cause I don't think I've seen any of this cast online yet and I'd love it if you could scan them.
Catherine |
I think most of them are. But there are a hell of a lot of them. If I get time tomorrow, I'll definately scan em. Or at least take a picture of them...
Moci |
Just in case you wanted to know who you saw and hadn't been able to find out: Drew Sarich - Jean Valjean Hans Peter Janssens - Javert Joanna Ampil - Fantine Melanie La Barrie - Mme Thnardier Chris Vincent - Thnardier Gary Watson - Marius Cassandra Compton - Eponine Claire-Marie Hall - Coseett Edward Baruwa - Enjolras Will Barratt - Bamatabois Will Barratt - Courfeyrac Benjamin Beechey - Brujon Stuart Boother - Montparnasse Ruth Brown - Swing Emily Bull - Whore Danny Burns - Swing Natalie Caswell - Whore Lucinda Collins - Madame Stephen John Davis - Bishop Stephen John Davis - Combeferre Emma Dukes - Whore Joel Elferink - Feuilly Alice Fearn - Factory Girl Spike Grimsey - Swing Elliot Harper - Prouvaire Jennifer Hepburn - Crone Leyla Holly - Swing Roy Litvin - Babet George Miller - Claquesous Rachael Louise Miller - Whore Gareth Nash - Joly Peter Saul - Lesgles Lisa Thorner - Old woman Paul Westhead - Swing Richard Woodford - Factory Foreman Richard Woodford - Grantaire Thats presuming of course that you didn't have any understudies. |
||||
lesmisloony |
*stares openmouthed at the drawing*
I want! |
||||
Quique |
Great pictures, Catherine!
I love the look of the set as you walk in and see all that smokey projection on the scrim. I want to see it again! |
||||
Catherine |
Thanks guys! I think most people weren't understudies because they matched the pics in the brochure. 'Cept Gavroche. Do they get, like 3 people to play him because they're under-age?
lesmisloony |
Yep, I think that's how it works. Well, it was two on Broadway. And three Young Cosette/Young Eponines.
flying_pigs |
It's 3 in London, same with all West End shows I think.
EponineMNFF |
What I never understood was why they need so many kids to play Gavroche when in Annie they have a whole mess of kids who go on every single night.
Sorry that's kind of off-topic, but I've been wondering that for so long. Haha. |
||||
Electricity24601 |
Okay, my turn!
This one's for all the JOJ fangirls out there: 'Tis from the 21 anniversary celebration. Would also work quite nicely for the caption a picture thread I think Here are some pics from when I went backstage at the Queen's with the Mis Kids Club Quick-Change station Wedding Cake: The cast members sign their nams on the back of the sets. This is Jo Ampil's signature, from when she played Eponine. She wrote "I'll be back" and she was quite correct. And here's a pic of the amazing "barricake" that my mom made me for my b-day 2 years ago. |
||||
herkind |
That barricake looks amazing. Now I'm hungry. That was so cool of your mom to do that!
Catherine |
I want a barricake!!
Some more pics, these are from the souvenir brochure, but they're not great quality because I don't have a scanner. =[ The cast list was posted if you look back a bit, so look there if you wanna see whos who. (bit big... sorry) my second fave (my fave) Hope you like em! also.. |
||||
EponineBarker |
I just found these today. I doubt that they would be considered rare or anything, but I'd never seen them before, so I'd thought I'd post them. Enjoy!
Marius (David Malek), Eponine (Jacinta Whyte) & Enjolras (Daniel Coll) Cosette (Rebecca Thornhill) & Marius (David Malek) Marius (David Malek) & Eponine (Jacinta Whyte) |

Hmm, bald!Enjolras kind of loses something upside-down, I think. I miss the way the hair cascades, I s'pose...
curlyhairedsoprano91 |
bald!Enjolras ... is just wrong ...
Orestes Fasting |
What is it with the London production making Enjolras actors shave their heads. Shaun Escoffery was shiny-headed too.
lesmisloony |
Well, I guess a black guy would have to have short hair, dreadlocks, or cornrows, right? (Please someone enlighten me if I'm being dreadfully racist or naive.) So maybe they just like the baldiness better?
*fondly remembers Mike's ginormous dreadlock wig* |
||||
The Very Angry Woman |
And JD Goldblatt had one at the beginning of the run too, right? Cornell John had dreadlocks in a ponytail. |
||||
EponineMNFF |
Yeah, he had one too. I ADORED it. Though I'll leave all that fangirling up for LML. |
||||
lesmisloony |
Haha, there's plenty of room on the Monty-with-cracky-dreadlocks love train!
Orestes Fasting |
Well FFS, if short hair works for the white Enjolrati... |

I guess the bald wasn't as good, but he kinda made up for it because... he was pretty fab.
Mann! I wanna see it again! |

I will! Maybe next year with a friend. I wanna sit in BB again!

Orestes Fasting |
I'm totally burned out on the musical for the immediate future. The book, on the other hand... I'm due for a reread. Maybe I'll try to read it cover-to-cover on the plane to and from Switzerland next week.
EponineMNFF |
Hey! Let us not forget the concert in August! If you can make it, that kind of counts as seeing it!
Should I add that to my total count for having seen Les Mis or does it not count, since it's a concert? O.o |
||||
lesmisloony |
Ooh, excellent question...
mastachen |
Do non-professional productions count?
Quique |
Of course. It's a live performance, and it might even be better than the the revival, London, or tour depending on the cast.
lesmisloony |
What about... the SE? | ||||
Quique |
There are only two categories for me...pro and non-pro.
EponineMNFF |
I don't count student editions, but I usually tack it on at the end. Like, "I've seen Les Mis ten times, not including a student edition I saw."
I'd definitely count regional and community productions. |
||||
lesmisloony |
Oh, okay good. I was slightly concerned that there were high school kids who played Sailor #3 and pronounced it "In-whole-rice" who'd seen the show more than I had...
Meliara |
Ahhhh~! Could someone PLEASE scan the photos that Catherine so kindly photographed? I've been dying to see some Drew Sarich as Valjean in London but I haven't seen any!
Thanks! |
