Hayden's the one in the middle, right? The prettiest one?

Fantine--Hayden is the one in the middle.

And I actually have no idea where it's from--got it from a friend, who got it from a friend, etc.

I don't know whether I want to laugh or cry at that picture though Confused

I choose the latter.

Hahaha. That never gets old. XD

My other fandoms (listing them because we seem to have a lot in common):

Hornblower
Severus Snape
The Inspector Lynley Mysteries
Final Fantasy
Kingdom Hearts

That picture of Hayden has scarred me!

But I still love him!
lesmisloony

My other fandoms... do I even have any? Confused

Well... I have other things I love, but I don't obsess over them the way I do LM. I guess Jane Eyre and Sweeney Todd are my other two favourite things.

And that's, ah, Jane Eyre the book. The musical is not so much with the good.

I saw a clip of him on YouTube as Javert, and I was impressed with him there. His voice isn't right for Jeanjean, though. IMHO.

That's actually my favorite song in the show. The rest of it just seems very bland to me.
Anyway, I loves me some Bronte sisters. I guess I'm fangirling them now since I'm reading Villette.

Holy crap I haven't posted here in awhile. *Shakes fist at college.*
lesmisloony

Squee! I thought you'd disappeared forever!

Mmm, Brontes. But I think the Forgiveness song is kinda preachy. Probably my favourite in terms of quality is the Sondheimish one that Crazy!Fairfax sings. (*has only heard the soundtrack twice*)
I like the Rochester-and-Jane-finally-get-together song too, though it gets a bit monotonous and heavy-handed with the "leave me here BLIIIIIND!" thing. Or whatevs. And, though it's not a particularly brilliant song, I do like the finale one too. It's quite catchy.

Oh, and on the Toronto recording? The one I have? ANTHONY CRIVELLO is Rochester.

Add to the list of things I fangirl "Ray Bradbury."

Hmm... other nonLesMis obsessions...

Jamie Bower (I think that's his name) from the Sweeney Todd movie- he played Anthony. Not an amazing voice, but ohmygoodness, so cute. Not hot, exactly, but very, very nice. It was great- my friends and I were watching the movie and everyone was complaining about how girly he looked. My gay guy friend and I looked at each other and went "are we the only ones who think he's really cute?" Laughing
Sondheim- I got to hear him talk last night, and it was amazing!
Orson Scott Card novels- anyone else read anything by him?
curlyhairedsoprano91

More non-LM obsessions.

Frasier. Kind of obsessed. With Niles. And David Hyde-Pierce in general.
I've kinda been obsessed with Fiddler since I was a wee tiny child, but really more obsessed with the story/characters/script than with any particular actors.
The Crucible.
...Does Barack Obama count? Yes? Okay.
lesmisloony

YES. BARACK OBAMA.
And Frasier! My roommate was watching that movie with Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning, and I saw Gil Chesterton for a second, and I, like, fell out of my chair. And my friend and I agree that the show should just be called "Niles."

I'm beginning to think I have very strange taste... I always seem to pick out the people that no one else thinks is good looking. Laughing

Yay for Crucible! Was our school play last year, and we did it in English this year. Hale is my favorite... he had the most amazing hat in our production. (He looked like a quaker oats guy, except slightly more dignified)
lesmisloony

Aw, it's good that people like you exist! If everyone had the same standard of hotness, life would suck for everyone, no?

(I'm not sure that was terribly clear, but I'm sure you get the gist...)

Aww! *is happy to have been missed.*

Yes, Forgiveness is a tad preachy but I just think it sounds lovely. Or maybe it's Jayne Patterson's voice. I own the cast recording but I haven't listened to it in forever.

As for my non-Les Mis obsessions, I've really gotten back into figure skating lately. Gotta love pretty boys in sparkly costumes doing triple axels. Razz
lesmisloony

Wasn't Jayne Patterson Fantine at some point, or am I making things up? She was in the original Bway production in 2003, no? Because I either saw her as Fantine or met her at the picket line...

...or have gone absolutely mad...
Orestes Fasting

Toby Stephens was a sexy Rochester...which probably shouldn't happen, but still, that is my fav version despite the various altarations (I think I even fangirl this over the Timothy Dalton version).

And please tell me I'm not the only one who's shocked that Jane managed to keep her virginity intact after Toby Stephens' "seduction" in the temptation scene... Drool Man, I never thought that scene could be so...steamy...it's always been played a an agrument. This was the first time it was done as an actual sexual temptation...and it was VERY realistic.... Thanks, I'll check that out. I got the DVD of the Tudors for Christmas since I don't get Showtime and I'm really nerdy about that time period. It really is unintentionally hilarious at times and historical inaccuracies abound. Yet Sam Neill and Jeremy Northam are wonderful as Cardinal Wolsey and Thomas More respectively.

I loved Ledoyen as Cosette too. She really did remarkably well considering all the Valjean perving she had to put up with and is it me or is she in bed for about 75% of her scenes?
lesmisloony

She was in bed a lot. After she married Fugly, she did nothing but lie in bed and cry. Trufax.
Fantine

Hold it. Who played what and why and where in The Tudors?
mastachen

Let me give a full description (I loved The Tudors)

courtesy of IMDB

Jonathan Rhys Meyer - King Henry VIII
Henry Cavill - Charles Brandon
Natalie Dormer - Anne Boleyn
Maria Doyle Kennedy - Queen Catherine of Aragon
Nick Dunning - Thomas Boleyn
Jeremy Northam - Sir Thomas More
Sam Neill - Cardinal Thomas Wosley
Callum Blue - Anthony Kivert
Joe Van Moyland - Thomas Tallis
Pedriac Delaney - George Boleyn
Kristen Holden-Reid - Compton
James Frain - Thomas Cromwell
Declan Conlon - Mendoza
Gabrielle Anwar - Princess Margaret
Jamie Thomas King - Thomas Wyatt

I think that's enough... lol Thomas was sure a popular name back then
Fantine

I guess I missed something. I thought one of the previous Les Mis actors were in the cast or something. My bad.
I really like this show. It doesn't help that I only see it sometimes, therefore the story line is totally screwed up. Natalie Dormer is really pretty though.

I've seen like 5 minutes of the tudors and I catched like half a dozen historical inaccuracies! But they are so many pretty boys in it I am really considering getting the dvds (can I be more shallow?)

Maggie Smith, we are truly indebted to you.

I've only seen some bits of it, but Valjean telling Marius that he does not love Cosette "like a father", the way he looks at her all the time, and specially Valjean lying in the same bed with cosette and telling her that it's ok because it is her father's bed, with an expression and a voice that actually say: " it also does not matter if I start touching and caressing you because we are family" ... maybe i have a dirty mind but I certainly saw it as perving.

Hehehe...it's funny thinking about Depardieu playing Valjean.

I had to IMDB the film to fully comprehend the topic of conversation...anywho, I fianlly know what the hell you guys are talking about. Mr. Green

Anyway, I thought it was sorta funny that we got talking about Jane Eyre for a little while, and now we're talking about the Depardieu film, where Charlotte Gainsbourg, of all actresses, played Fantine. Personally, I don't think she was pretty enough for the part...very gawky looking with squirrel cheeks and a giraffe neck...or maybe that was only in Jane Eyre (she should definitely keep her hair long and down though). Anyway, was she still a good Fantine in the movie?

O hey, I just remembered, she can sing too...maybe she could play the part in the musical...if she has the right voice for it (I don't really know what she sounds like though.)
lesmisloony

Umm... Charlotte Gainsbourg was on okay Fantine, but she was NOT. BLONDE. I do not approve of this. C'mon, France, get with it!

Still, she wasn't as bad as the Fantine in the '78 film with Richard Perkins and Anthony Jordan. Because that woman looked and sounded like Gollum... Rolling Eyes d'oh!

I don't know if malkovich can speak any french but it is not his voice in this movie. What you hear there is the perfectly accented voice of a french dubbing actor. No wonder he is easier to understand than other characters. Dubbing actors always vocalize and speak much more clearly than actors on screen. As long as I know (I haven't seen the film), Marius, ponine and Enjolras are dubbed into french too, and so their french is probably easier to understand than Valjean, Cosette or Fantine's.
Mistress

That makes sense seeing as Malkovich is American and Marius the Fugly is Italian...from what I saw though, the dubbing looking very natural though, some of the best dubbing I've seen...but then I guess they had to mime the french words as apposed to speaking English and than having a French guy speak over them...sorta like all of those really bad dubs for Asian movies.

How about the Queen's theatre? I love it there so much. I'm sure its just because its the first place I saw Les Mis (plus its in London, which is my favorite city EVER). It's pretty and intimate without being squished (a la the Broadhurst).
Out of all the theatres you've seen Les Mis at, which is your favorite?
Mistress

It was actually fairly easy. I just hit the hint button, and the hint was imeime which is namename in Croatian-my language. So I just typed my last name in twice, no spaces, and Bingo! I was in. And I imagine that the password is the same for the other usable computer here.

I'm surprised it didn't occur to me to try the hint button before... Laughing

Hehe, Mistress, you're brill.

My dad used to use "barf" as the password on our computer... Rolling Eyes

So... anybody ever heard "Confrontation" performed with a back-up of electric guitar? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBevLDMIk_o&NR=1

Laughing Hehehehe...that's funny.

...I think I just realized that I fangirl Philip Quast (a little), Philip Quast as Javert (a little more than I fangirl Philip Quast), and Philip Quast's low note at the end of the word "chain" in The Confrontation...it's freakishly awsome Mr. Green

O.M.G.

I actually just got "Hallelujah" in the mail.

And ... o_O

I'm fangirling all over the place right now. B'cause the title track is sexy. Like, really, really sexy.

As is the cover picture/insert picture/jewel case picture.

But mainly the voice...on Hallelujah. WOW.
Mistress

Yeah, I know. I swear I actually had some sort of orgasm the first time I heard Halleluiah...and it in the school library too Laughing

I know, right? It's just so ... JOJ ... gaaaaaah.

Hahaha, every topic in this thread seems to come back to JOJ.

Maybe it's 'cause everyone shamelessly fangirls JOJ.

*loveshim* Very Happy
EponineMNFF

I think I fangirl Randal Keith more than JOJ, but probably 'cause I saw him more times.

That doesn't say much about my lack of fangirling for JOJ though, since I fangirl both of them to no end.

*waves flag of CMP love*

And not necessarily his portrayal of Enjolras... just him. As a person. At the stagedoor.
mastachen

I think that if I ever caught Victor Wallace on a night where he's not going through puberty, he'd have been an awesome Enjolras.

Victor Wallace is LOVE.

He's so fierce.
Quique

I thought he was better than his understudy Eric Briarley.

He did seem to force his lower notes, but he had the perfect look and his voice and acting was strong 90% of the time.

That's what I thought too, until he went "They will come when we *screech*" My sister can't even hit whatever the hell note he hit. lol

I LOVE JOJ's album. I think I might have actually cried the first time I heard his recorded Bring Him Home, the same way I cry whenever I hear it live...

As for theatres, I am quite attached to the Queen's Theatre. I wish they would let you in earlier before a performance, because I really like just walking around in it. And I get really annoyed whenever they change something (like when they stopped selling the cookies-and-cream ice cream! Crying or Very sad )
Quique

I've never cried during "Bring Him Home" until 2004.

I cried buckets last time I saw the show on Broadway.
Mistress

I've just been watching me some JOJ Bring Him Home....*drool* Colm's passion and emotion hits you hard, and it's fantastic, but JOJ's voice just caresses you into tears...it's so incredibly tender. Man, if he and Philip Quast did Les Mis together, THAT would be the ultimate orgasm.
lesmisloony

Add this to my list, as sung by Randal Keith and some Young Cosette:

-Yes, Cosette, yes it's true! There's a castle just waiting for you! *incredibly evil cackle*

And... you know. Randal Keith in general.

Better than Gemignani's "Ho Ho Ho!" He sounds like Santa.
