Random PicturesAnything Les Mis related, whether it be production photographs or whatev...just post what you have. Rare pics are a major plus. I will love you if you post the name of each of the actors shown in the pics, if you can.
I've posted these before, but will again in case anyone missed them...
My 1st national tour program. This was only my second time seeing the show - February 26, 1991, Pantages Theatre, Los Angeles.
Gary Morris as Jean Valjean.
Susan Tilson as Eponine (Still--after nearly 20 years---frantically searching for a boot that features her and the rest of this cast); Pete Herber as Enjolras; and company.
From the souvenir brochure:

Then I immediately would like to ask if I may take the photo's posted here and use them for icons.
I'll browse through my image maps to see if I have some rare pictures. (Which I rather doubt, sadly).

But these scans are nasty. You might want to wait till I scan them again using my new scanner. =)

I don't have anything really rare, to the best of my knowledge, but I did want to comment on how awesome the pictures you posted are! I don't really like Gary Morris' voice, but he is a great actor.

Ahhhh! Those are amazing! I collect pictures as well.
I don't know if this is rare, but I'm more posting this because I have NO IDEA what it is. I found it about three years ago and I can't figure it out.
What IS this? Haha. o.O

That's Felix Martin and Jane Comerford of the Austrian production.
Jane's makeup looks garish in that photo.

Btw guys, the pictures don't have to be rare. The thread is entitled "Random Pictures" not "Rare Pictures." So post anything from favorite production photographs, stagedoor pics, artwork, program scans...anything. =)

Wow! I can't believe you know that! Well I'm not surprised, now that I think of it. Haha.
Ahhhh I'm totally posting more pictures then. I'm like obsessed with Les Mis pictures. But sorry, Quique, I like don't know any of the actors. Haha. X_x
This picture makes me sad. I love this tiny little scene and there are so few pictures of it.
I've been told this is Colm Wilkinson, and I believe that, but it's sort of hard to tell. I can imagine somebody just seeing a picture of Valjean and assuming it's him.
This picture is SO CUTE. There are so few Eponine and Gavroche pictures and it makes me sad. Even though this one isn't during a show, it's still fabulous.
This is one of my favorite moments in the show. I think this picture captures the lighting really well too.
Last but definitely not least. What is this? Haha it's the CUTEST thing I have ever seen! I've seen clips of Gavroches as Valjean and Javert and these are Little Cosettes, so I assume it was for some kind of presentation or other. Tiny little costumesssss!

Okay I'm TOTALLY obsessed with this thread. I just went through my collection and picked out my favorites. ^^
I think somebody here on mdn might have posted this, but I thought I should post it again. It's some cast or other doing the A Chorus Line dance, I think. Haha.
Can you say ADORABLE?
I just like this picture. It's a lot sadder than those other ALFOR pictures where Eponine is just like *pout* Wow. I'm articulate. x_x
I forgot which cast this is from. I do remember trying to navigate a German website, but that might have been some other time. Help somebody?
I know that this is Vera Bolten (sp?) as Eponine, but I don't know who the other woman is.
This picture is so cool. I have no idea where I found it. It's the OBC, isn't it?

Okay, now to actually contribute:
A photo that ran in the Times when LM left Bway the first time. I know that's Terry Mann as Javert... I know that whole cast, actually, but I couldn't say who they are with their backs to the camera... Possibly Randath Keith in the background, seeing how it's an old Valjean type. And is that my hero Christopher Mark Peterson on Javert's right? Perhaps? Eh.

Scans from the Montral souvenir brochure. (What, where did you think I got all my obscure trivia questions about that cast?) It was also unusual in that the commentary was printed in side-by-side French and English, and that some of the stuff printed in there referred specifically to that production (mostly relating to the French translation of the lyrics).
I'm really sorry these are so washed out--someday I'll re-do them with a better scanner. I think they're pretty rare; I've never seen them online, though the brochure comes up on ebay from time to time.
Cast:
Valjean: Robert Marien
Javert: Peter Zinko
Fantine: Louise Pitre
Eponine: Stphanie Martin
Marius: Frayne McCarthy
Cosette: Martine Fugre
Thnardier: Andr Thrien
Mme Thnardier: Mireille Thibault
If anyone can give me more complete cast info (who is that Enjolras, anyway?) or a bootleg, I will love you forever and ever.

Orestes Fasting wrote: | I personally like the Buenos Aires cast the best, but Quique probably prefers the Mexican cast. |
I love both recordings almost equally, though I find myself listening to the Mexican one more often because of its excellent translation. The Argentine's sound quality is amazing. The orchestra jumps out at you. The Mexican recording's sound isn't as great: some parts are really low, then it gets loud and you can't hear the orchestra as clearly. There's also this woman in the audience who speaks LOUDLY for about 15 seconds during the prologue. Thankfully she shuts up for the rest of the show, lol.
As for the casts, both have their strengths and weaknesses. I love the Argentine Fantine, Valjean (who's also on the Mex recording), Eponine, the kids, the Thenardiers, and Javert. I'm not too fond of the Marius, Enjolras, and Cosette. It's a great soundboard, though my copy has many skips and clicks in it for some reason, especially during the loud parts. Not sure if it has always been like that or if it's just my copy.
The Mexican cast is vocally stronger overall, imo. Leonardo Luiz's Enjolras is incredible as is Rodrigo de la Rosa's Marius. I sort of like Natalia Sosa's Eponine, but Pili is 10,000 times better. Claudia Cota's Cosette is wonderful.
As for the Spanish recording...the translation is so bad, it makes me weep, lol. But the cast is pretty good.

Yay! Good, cos I really love the sketches. But that's my Book obsession.
That Monty sketch I leave everywhere...
Theodule and M. Gillenormand:
I think this is Jondrette's lair again:
Valjean and Cosette chez Jondrette:
Ponine thinking she's alone in Marius's room:
Valjean burning himself and pwning during the robbery:
WOULD YOU LIKE MY HAT? (one of the greatest moments of the Book, imo):
Mme T tries to attack Javert:
That *other* barricade Hugo describes for a while:
Valjean arrives at the barricade with the fifth uniform:
Shooting down the mattress:
Marius and Gillenormand:
Cosette on the morning of the battle:
Valjean letting Javert go:
Barricade overrun:
The sewers:
Javert and Valjean with unconscious!Marius:
And now you've seen about half of my sketches... but I don't want to make excessively long posts...
|

I love them! The barricade ones make me sad.
