The Shameless Fangirl-ing Thread

So, I thought we needed one of these. Even though I'm not much in the mood to be a fangirl right now. You know, in case I'm not the only one in this community who occasionally goes on a fangirling run.

...Yeah.
Orestes Fasting

Haha. I shamelessly fangirl:

Enjolras
Enjolras/Grantaire (their buttse--I mean, subtext--is so canon)
Aaron Lazar
The Broadway revival
Combeferre
The Brick in all its 1500-page glory
The PRC lyrics
Most of the Broadway revival barricade boys
The OLC in all its quirkiness

I'm willing to discuss any of these subjects rationally, faults included, but at the end of the day I will go back to my unabashed fangirly joy.
mastachen

I fanboy:

Lea Salonga
Marissa McGowan.
lesmisloony

I fangirl... (take a guess)

MONTPARNASSE.
Cosette (is that okay? to fangirl a girl?)
Valjean (esp. Frederic March... yow)
the Brick
Gueulemer
the PRC
L'un vers l'autre and I Saw Him Once
Michael Ball and Philip Quast
Kip Driver and Mike Evariste
John Owen-Jones
Conan O'Brien
Babet

Mr. Green
EponineMNFF

Oooohhh exciting thread.

I fangirl

Eponine (but not in a bopper way; I am proud of my non-bopper ness, though I could use a new username. But I can't post as fast as all of you 'round here. I don't want to be a "fresh face" anymore. Haha. ^^;Wink
VALJEAN <3 <3 <3
Grantaire
Enjolras
Enjy/Grantaire (true.love.)
Victor Wallace (obsessed)
Melissa Lyons
Lea Salonga
Megan McGinnis
CELIA KEENAN-BOLGER
Severus Snape ...oops wrong forum...
Are we allowed to fangirl the brick? I do then! Hahah.
Javert (but not as much as Valjean)

...I'm going to end up listing all of the characters and actors, save for Gavroche and Daphne Rubin Vega. I should stop now. Haha.
Fantine

I have my periods of fangirling. At the moment I'm more busy with other fandoms. Are we allowed to obsess over them as well?
mastachen

I'm writing an essay right now, and I named someone in it Marissa McGowan.
Quique

I used to have a fascination with the national tours and knew every city and theatre the show visited. I've forgotten most of it now. I become a raging fanboy when it comes to the orchestrations. I went insane when I heard they were tampering with the orchestrations for the revival, haha. I also raised hell when they placed that Sinfonia thing in the London production, grrr.

I used to compare photos from different productions and take note of all differences. I was sorta odd back then, lol.
curlyhairedsoprano91

Now that it's morning and I'm desperately trying to put off going to work, I'm in the mood for fangirling.

I shamelessly fangirl:
Enjolras
Marius
Valjean (except when he's Colm. That's not sexy.)
Javert, in spite of myself
Michael Maguire (haha, *shamelessly fangirls* ... a lot. <33333)
Philip Quast
Michael Ball
John Owen-Jones<333
Montparnasse, a little
Enj/R ... teehee

Exactly, I'm willing to discuss rationally any of the above subjects. But when left to my own devices, I fangirl all over the place. Hurrah for us!

Pictures/other fangirl materials welcome.

Love,
Cosette
[/b]
Quique

-Sutton Foster
-Craig Rubano
-Anthony Warlow
-Elinore O'Connell
-The original Los Angeles production (I'd kill for a vid boot of it)
Fantine

I'm starting to fangirl for Enjolras....

I also really like Eponine x Montparnasse Very Happy

My devotion to Fantine is kind of over, although I do still run my website with pride and joy Smile I'm sure it will return once I see the TAC again or something.

(I'm currently fangirling all over Inspector Lynley)......
lesmisloony

I love Fantine as well. I think she's sadly ignored. Not unlike Valjean, the original pwn-er.

I must also add Colm's boots from the TAC to my list. Those things are sexay.

Oh, yes indeedy!
EponineMNFF

How could I have forgotten Sutton Foster?

Add her to the list!

And Cortney Wolfson also!

And the final third national tour cast! I'm kind of obsessed with them.
Quique

EponineMNFF wrote:

Same here. I saw them three times in their final L.A. stop back in June, 2006. I sobbed like you won't believe when I saw the closing night performance. I was all..."end of an era...whaaaa!!!!!" Laughing

And I didn't want to leave the theatre afterwards. I just stood there looking at the empty stage crying. An usher had to kick us out, lol.

I saw that LA June production twice also. (My friends and I went in costume at one point. Dorky, but people seemed to appreciate it since it wasn't just me alone. That would just be sad. Haha. I was with two friends and basically made both of their costumes as well. /random story) I SOBBED as well when I had to say goodbye to Randal Keith, Jennifer Butt and Melissa Lyons at the stage door. *Sniff* Okay that was really random and off topic, but that's how much I adored that cast! Haha.
Quique

I saw it on June 9th, 14th, and 18th. I had tickets for a 4th and 5th time, but I was nice--and stupid--and sold them to members of my family who wanted to see it one last time as well.

The sis and I were almost going to stagedoor on closing night, but we ended up not going. I regret that now, grrr.
mastachen

I saw it once on it's June LA stop. It was memorable b/c Victor Wallace's voice cracked.

It was totally silent for 2 seconds, and then my dad laughed.
Quique

His voice cracked once when I saw him on the 18th. Other than that, he had a really powerful voice. Loved him.
mastachen

You're joking.

THAT'S WHEN I WENT TO SEE IT.

Edit: Oops. I saw it on the 13th. I just checked the tickets. Apparently, he cracks quite a bit then.
jackissensational

Fanboyisms:

Your generics- but I fanboy them hardcore, mind you.
Colm! Gosh, I that man makes my life 89444 shades brighter.
All Asian productions! I don't know what it is, but they just seem to rock the costumes like none other!
Ruthie Henshall... Ah, love. Has anyone else seen the TV version of Scrooge with the guy that plays Frazier. (Name escapes me, my bad.) Ruthie plays Scrooge's mother. She looks different than usual. And Sound of Musicals on BBC? Ah, made my life. Oh, and as Fantine, I kinda' like her as that one too, hehe!
And many other such things, that you don't care about that much, so I won't post 'em!
lesmisloony

Quote:

How ironic... I'm watching Frasier at this absolute very moment.

Kelsey Grammar. Wink
curlyhairedsoprano91

Teehee. I <3 Kelsey Grammer. And Frasier.

And Ruthie Henshall.
lesmisloony

Ooh, yes! Add Niles Crane to my list of things I fangirl!
Electricity24601

Oh, I like this thread!

The brick (I'm about 1/3 of the way through and LOVING it)
John Owen-Jones- this one is more than an obsession- its pretty scary, actually
Grantaire
Stephen Trafton
Kerry Ellis (I <3 her Fantine)
Enjy's vest
Cosette's bonnet
Ali Edwolt
The well scene (so cuuuuuuuute!)
Paula74

These are just off the top of my head. I know there's plenty more.

My first copy of The Brick with all its tatters, tape, dog-ears, and rips
Anthony Crivello as Javert
Hugh Panaro's 1988 headshot

lesmisloony

NGAHH YES. THAT GUY. THAT GUY. except for his wannabe Enjy vestIS AMAZING.

Actually, I really love the TAC Patron-Minette. Except for Claquesous, who looks like a bouncy little boy... WTF? But Brujon makes a fantastic Gueulmer, no? And I *love* that Babet. Especially his voice.

*fangirls TAC!Patron-Minette a LOT*
curlyhairedsoprano91

Teehee. *fangirls THAT GUY*

Keith Burns, I think his name is. Ridiculously Montparnassesque. Shoooo attractive. There were a number of those in the TAC. Which became increasingly apparent to me last night as I watched it for the first time in a few months.

Yay, fellow JOJ love! Have you ever checked out the joj forums? *shameless plug*
curlyhairedsoprano91

I haven't! Link please?

Ahhh JOJ. I want to marry that man. *fangirls*
lesmisloony

JOJ FORUMS? WHERE??

*breathes.*

Okay.

But no, I mean, I FLOVED his Valjean, and then we met him at the stagedoor... and even if he hadn't been an amazing JVJ, I would be fangirling his British accent right now.

EponineMNFF: We had bread at lunch! We should have brought it to you!
Loony: Ooh, yeah, I even had a baguette thingy!
JOJ: I can't eat bread, actually; I've got a wheat allergy. It's a bit ironic.

*melts and dies*
curlyhairedsoprano91

I'm not kidding, JOJ is so ridiculously hot. And I don't even like blond men as a rule. And that voice ...

*FANGIRL*

LML... that conversation .... SO ADORABLE.
curlyhairedsoprano91

And just so you know, the bread thing has had me laughing hysterically for about 5 minutes. 'Cause he's Valjean. And he's allergic to BREAD. Ohhh my gosh that's priceless.

*dies laughing*

curlyhairedsoprano91

Geez, I'm in such a fangirly mood today, it's not even funny.

... and I'm still laughing at the bread thing.
EponineMNFF

Meeting JOJ at the stage door = making my life a little bit more complete.

He seemed pretty delighted by my Valjean Halloween costume too. Or maybe creeped out. I can't tell.

<.<

Very Happy
lesmisloony

Mr. Green I'd have to say "delighted."
Orestes Fasting

Oh JOJ. For the longest time I never heard him say more than four consecutive words at the stagedoor, then one day my friend mentioned a little mishap that had happened during the matinee and he started talking about how the chairs in the London production are lighter and he keeps bruising his ribs trying to knock the Broadway ones over. Laughing
Quique

Ahh. I really wanted to see JOJ. =(

I was also looking forward to Judy Kuhn, but I've heard that she wasn't all that great (I think one of you said that).
EponineMNFF

I fangirl Judy's "Take my hand" through "And tell Cosette I love her and I'll see her when I wake," in Come to Me, but that's about it.

That was fabulous, though.
Electricity24601

Ah, JOJ can be very hilarious and sweet if you get him talking.
Story time!
At the b-way stage door, my mom asked him if about a play that's coming to b-way that she thinks he'd be really good in. It's called Death takes a Holiday.
Mom: John, what about Death Takes a Holiday?
JOJ: What?
Mom: Death Takes a Holiday
Joj: What? Jeff takes a holiday?
Mom: No, death
JOJ: Who's Jeff?
Mom: No, DEATH
JOJ: Oh, death takes a holiday!

If JOJ is allergic to wheat, how does he eat the bread onstage?

Here's the forum link:
http://www.chris.ripside.com/joj/
It used to super busy, but it has been really quiet lately. Most of the original members still stop by, but don't post nearly as often (they seem to have gotten what most of us call a "life") So we could definately use some new rabid Les Mis fans over there! (my username is eponinefan, btw)
Fantine

Haha, that IS really ironic, him not being able to eat bread.
lesmisloony

Quote:

What do you mean? I'm pretty sure there's no bread onstage... If I remember correctly, it's pantomime food chez the bishop, if that's what you're referring to...

I shall certainly check that link.

And I love the story about Jeff taking a holiday, by the way. It just brightened up what was already proving to be a crappy day.
curlyhairedsoprano91

Electricity24601 wrote:

Aww, JOJ is so adorable. Love him.

I just finished watching the TAC ... and I'm overcome with the urge to shamelessly fangirl both Michaels. (Alas, not even footage of him as Edna is enough to stop me from being attracted to Michael as he was in '95 and before...)

So, I'm just saying. That's what Cosette is spending the rest of her night doing. Shamelessly fangirling MB and Maguire.

Very Happy

lesmisloony wrote:

Nope, the Bishop's bread is real. They get a new loaf I think once a week--which makes me feel sorry for Valjean's teeth on the Sunday show.
lesmisloony

*bows*
Apologies.

I thought I remembered my mom making a comment after we saw a tour, saying she didn't understand why the bishop's house had pantomime food and the wedding scene had giant (fake) cakes and things.

But that was a while back. And maybe she's about as observant as I am... Smile

So wait, JOJ *did* eat bread every night? How?

*befuddled...ness*
mastachen

Yeah. If you watch the bootlegs, JOJ always takes a huge bite out of it. Like he never eats dinner before the show.
lesmisloony

Certainly he didn't lie to us...
mastachen

Maybe he is allergic. But he takes one for the team every night?
Orestes Fasting

Who knows, maybe they got gluten-free bread or something. Laughing
EponineMNFF

There are wheatless breads out there. It seems like a bit more of a pain for whoever's ordering it, but eh. Worth it for JOJ.

Wait, they get a new one every WEEK? But how does the audience not notice when there's a huge bite taken out of it already when it comes on stage?
lesmisloony

Very Happy
I didn't even notice there was bread...

Well, Drew seems to be violent with props in general, because he used to occasionally send candlesticks flying into the wings during What Have I Done. Haha. I'm not sure whether the London blocking includes knocking over the chair during the Waltz of Treachery, but Drew seemed to have way too much fun with that too.

I realize this may come here as a huge heresy. ehem. i'll just go hide myself under my bed after i say it.
i've never seen JOJ on stage, so, maybe that would make me change my mind, but...
i find utterly impossible to find any valjean sexy even in the most remote way. and i guess that it kind of extends to the actor playing him.
seriously. valjean lust=creepy perversion.
thenardier is sexier than him. fauchelevant is sexier than him. the 2 candlesticks are sexier than him.

well. i don't know. seriously. it is something irrational.
but now that you asks it makes me wonder. i'll have to think about it.
